Easter Prayer and Reflection

Easter brings about many beautiful stories about the appearances of Jesus after his death, burial and resurrection. Each story demonstrates the same theme: God’s love. God loves us. He knows us. When we are in doubt, he deepens our faith. When we are experiencing sadness or uncertainty, God comforts us and gives us the courage, strength and resolution to keep moving forward.  With God’s love, we always have a companion to walk with us and even carry us through times of need. The Leo House would like to wish you a beautiful Easter and share an Easter Prayer and Reflection with you at the end of this article.

Remember the stories of God revealing himself after his resurrection? Here’s a refresher:

When the women went to anoint the body of Jesus, worrying about who would roll back the stone, they became fearful, confused and did not know what to think as they saw the stone to the entrance of the tomb rolled back and the tomb empty.  But then Jesus met them, greeted them, and said “Don’t be afraid.”  (Matthew 28:1, Mark 16:14)

When Jesus found Mary Magdalene weeping because she could not find his body, Jesus appeared and called her by name, and she recognized him.  (John 20:11)

As the word spread about Jesus’ rising from the dead, some doubted and Jesus had to turn their doubt to belief.  (Matthew 28:17, John 20:24)

When two of the disciples were on the way to Emmaus, Jesus joined them and listened to their loss of hope.   Jesus explained the message of the prophets, gradually revealed himself to the disciples, and once revealed, accepted their invitation to stay and eat with them.  (Luke 24:13)

Jesus met the disciples on a mountain in Galilee and told them:  I will be with you always, even until the end of the world. Go and spread the good news to everyone. (Matt 28:16)

Easter Prayer and Reflection

God, strengthen the parts of my faith that have been cut down by fear.
I look to you for bravery and strength so that I am no longer afraid.

When my soul is searching for answers, please help me to know that I can find the answers with your guidance.

Help me to live today in the belief that Jesus is risen and help me to demonstrate this with my heart, my intentions and with my attitude. Help me not to be disheartened but to seek your help in consoling and strengthening others experiencing hardship, suffering or death.

Be with me as I rejoice in your triumphant victory over death, your ultimate transformation and gift of salvation.Guide me to spread the word of the miracle of your resurrection and celebrate with loved ones and friends. Amen.
