What can I expect at the Macy’s NYC 4th of July Fireworks 2021 Show?

According to Macy’s, “The 45th annual Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks® will illuminate the Big Apple skyline with an electrifying light show full of bursting colors, jubilant music & a feeling of positivity. This year, we’re honoring America’s everyday heroes from communities across the country & the resilient spirit within us all. It’s our way of looking ahead with renewed hope for a brighter tomorrow”. To tune in directly to the live musical score, turn on 1010 wins anytime during the fireworks show. The musical score “The Hero Within” features, “Hero’s Suite,” an original composition. It is inspired by the bravery, courage, selflessness and compassion that are part of the daily lives of many Americans. This year there is an impressive lineup of performers on the NBC broadcast special, Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular. The musical artists that will perform on the NBC Fireworks special include The Black Pumas, Reba McEntire, Coldplay and OneRepublic.

Where can I watch the Macy’s NYC Fourth of July Fireworks live and in-person?

There will be five barges for the 2021 fireworks show with over two miles of public viewing space along the East River near Midtown Manhattan. There are official viewing sites along the elevated sections of the FDR (a.k.a. Franklin D. Roosevelt East River Drive) that will be controlled by the New York Police Department and you must be fully vaccinated with proof to enter. Authorized access points to these viewing places are located at East 23rd Street, East 34th Street and East 42nd Street. Special needs / ADA access is available at the 34th Street entrance.

If you are not fully vaccinated, such as families with young children, you can set up along the Brooklyn, Queens and Manhattan waterfronts. Expect large crowds and many streets will be closed to traffic so it is advised not to drive but to use public transportation.
